Manos Del Uruquay is a cooperative of 5000 women who produce and supply hand spun, hand dyed yarns. They are all made from natural fibres in South America. These are beautiful yarns with amazing colours, a fact that has not escaped some of the top designers such as Ralph Lauren, Benetton, and DKNY - who are just some of their customers.
Manos Del Uruquay have recently been awarded Fair Trade status by the World Trade Organisation. This was after a very long and exhaustive process. Members are organisations differentiated by their 100% Fair Trade commitment to eradicate poverty through sustainable economic development, through pioneering social and environmental policy and re-investment in marginalised artisans, farmers and producers in some of the most fragile places on earth.
Their range is well supported by patterns from Marita Rolins and Jean Moss. If you do not see what you want in our knitting pattern range please do contact me as I may well be able to source it for you.
